Araw ngayon ng mga puso.. Love and Romance.. Hearts.
Noong unang panahon, ang ganitong araw ay nakakabit sa kapistahan ng Lupercalia sa Roma, isang pagdiriwang about love and fertility on February 15. Ang kapistahan ay in honor of Lupercus, diyos ng fertility at pagsasaka at kasama sa pagdiriwang ang pag-aalay para mapurify ang lupa at ang kababaihan of child-bearing age. During the Lupercalia, two priests, called lupercis, sacrificed two male goats and a dog at the sacred cave where Romulus and Remus were supposedly nursed by the she-wolf. Names were also drawn from an urn to pair up young men and women as part of the festivities. This was intended to lead to marriages and children.
Another origin of today’s celebration is that the day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs with the name of Valentine. St. Valentine secretly held marriages for young soldiers against the decree of Emperor Claudius. Claudius felt that when soldiers are married, they become more attached to their families and turn into weak soldiers. Siguro nanlalambot mga tuhod pag nasa laban na.
Ang diwa ng araw ng mga puso, ay iyon nga nasa symbol niya… ang puso. Pag-ibig. Pagmamahal. Kaya naman, lahat tayo ay gumagawa ng paraan how to express our love. May mga babasahin. May mga awitin. May nagreregalo, may kumakain sa labas, may nanunuod ng sine, namamasyal at mayroon namang ang meaning ng Valentines Day ay Biglang Liko Day.
Loving is the most wonderful feeling man ever had. It makes life go around. It brings color. It keeps us alive.
One of the most meaningful lyrics in a song that I can connect sa araw ng mga puso ay ang “More Today Than Yesterday” ni Pat Upton ng Spiral Staircase. It relates of the love that grows stronger every day. Which line of a song can beat this… “I love you more today, than yesterday, but half as much as tomorrow.” Ibig sabihin, nadodoble araw araw ang pagmamahal.
And as I browse You Tube, I am so happy na may version na si Bruno Mars para sa kasalukuyang henerasyon. Which means one of my favorite songs have transgressed generations. (Click here to watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1qkirGpUn4 )
It is reaching more hearts…. and will not just remain a classic… but, a proactive classic…
“Everyday’s a new day, in love with you. With each day comes a new way, of loving you. Everytime I kiss your lips my mind starts to wonder. And if all my dreams come true, I’ll be spending time with you. I love you more today than yesterday. But half as much as tomorrow. I love you more today than yesterday. But only half as much as tomorrow.” – Spiral Staircase
