I went for a visit to our project in a Utility Company in Jubail.

The security guards are strict, tinanong ako ng  ilang beses kung ano ang sadya namin sa kanilang kompanya. And even if I showed them the copy of the request for gate pass, hindi kaagad kami pinatuloy sa Visitor’s Area.

Naghintay kami ng mga 10 minutes bago dumating ang coordinator ng manager at punta kami sa receptionist.

Ang receptionist sa tingin ko ay mga 60 years old na at mabagal ng kumilos.  He took our Iqamas and started copying the iqama number and the name.

Ang tagal niya magsulat. Nagulat ako ng ilabas niya ang magnifying glass para mabasa ang aming Iqama. Noon lang niya naisulat ang details at nakapagissue ng gate pass.

I told my companion, “this is an old plant, and the employees are old..”

He answered, “the plant maybe old, but it has served the community for more than 40 years, and continues to give potable and clean water to the people.”

Then I added, “the receptionist maybe old, but it has served this company for so long and even continuous to provide the honest service his way.”
