Can’t satisfy these kind of people. They are forever insatiable because they are forever covering up their incapacities, insufficiencies at kawalan ng achievements sa buhay. No thank you’s para sa kanila.

Second, lumabas ang mga heroes like Pingris, Chan, de Ocampo, Norwood (what a guy), Blatche, Aguilar, Fajardo, Tenorio, almost all of the team, but the most notable is Jimmy Alapag.

Jimmy personified inspiration. He is Mr. Inspiration.

JImmy Alapag had come to Manila on his own, with nothing but a small bag and a dream: to play for the Philippine team. No family, no backer; just his raw desire and courage. His papers didn’t make it in time for the Asian Games that year. Then, in his first exhibition game in the PBA, he fractured his hand. But he never gave up. He was the Rookie of the Year and led his team to six PBA championships. And he directed Gilas to that magnificent win over Senegal. He is an example for all of us. An inspiration to move on despite criticisms and bashes.

People are inspired with different things and often by small things.

We can also do it by showing:

a. Optimism – show energy, look at opportunities and project that you give hope to do things
b. Courage – stand up for what you believe, even it it is not popular
c. Care – you support, you commit sa mga kaibigan, sa pamilya, sa team, kahit na ano ang mangyari

We can move others by being an example. We can inspire others even in small ways.

I met Jimmy at the dairy section of Pioneer Center in Mandaluyong in early 2006, simple guy quietly taking groceries.

Oh, by the way, Jimmy is only 5′ 9″. And his monicker is “Mighty Mouse”.

But inspiring.
